The Birmingham Essay

The Civil Rights Movement was led by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth. The Civil Rights Movement was to use the National Guard to enforce the desegregation laws. They used King and Shuttlesworth to lift the Negro laws. The Negro laws were very strict. The laws prevented black people from freedom and freedom of speech and many other privileges.

The characters in the Watson go to Birmingham the author used things to show that the book is about 1963. The 16thstreet church was bomed on September 15 1963.

The Watsons Go To Bermingham Entrie #1

Sept. 15, 1963

today was absolutely crazy. i never expected to have to go save my sister from a bomb. Today started as the usual except i woke up late. when i woke up i was told by my mom that Joetta's church was bombed i told Byron to go and check it out but he didn't go. so i went. when i got to the front steps of the church i saw some kids that weren't moving my first thought was that '' I hope that one of those kids aren't my sister.'' i got closer and saw the shiny shiny shoes Joetta wore to church today. I got a little scared because I thought just might that joetta might be ''Dead.'' I started to get scared until i heared a little girl's voice. I yelled joetta is that you. The little girl was getting closer and closer. it was joetta we raced for each other i got her hand and we left I gave her her shoes and we went home. we were very excited to know joetta was safe and sound. that is how i spend my day.

Sincerly,
Kenny

Christmas Break Homework

The Watson's are good parents because they care for their kids. It shows they're care for the well being of their children especially Byron. The Watson's are good parents because they care about their children and because the well being of their children. the well being of the kids are very important to Mrs. and Mr. Watson especially Mrs. Watson.

In the book on p.65 her quote was " I swear that with God as my witness." My response to that quote was his mother is very strict as i said in the beginning the well being of her children is very very important to her. Mr. Watson is not as strict in the book as Mrs. Watson is.

Another example is the quote that states "i won't have you putting this family in danger." (p.65). My responses to that was i think Byron is a very dangerous kid to be around. For example they are sending him to stay with grandma sands because lately Byron has been getting in trouble because of the people he has been hanging around with. Mr. Watson is a good father because when his kids are in a stump he cheers them with his hysterical jokes.

On of her quotes are " I wont have u putting this family in danger." This shows that Byron is very careless and dangerous and reckless. another quote that shows the Watson's are good parents is " Grandma Sands is going to keep Byron for the summer and if thing don't improve or get better he'll stay there until next school year. that shows that the Watson's are good parents they are trying to raise there kids right. So far they have done a good job except Byron.

For example my sister is like Byron she to act up and my mom have to send her to jamaca to live with my dad. Now that she has spend two years there with my dad she has become a much better person. I think my mom send her there because she didnt want her to make the same mistakes my mom did while growing up. My point is that in no way is Mrs. and Mr. Watson bad parents. they are good parents and they should stick to wat they do. In conclusion the Watsons are good parents.

Chapter 5

1. The word that desribes Mrs. watson is forgiving. She is forgiving because she said ''I swear that with God as my witness.'' '' By got put on punishment for a month but even before a week was gone he started up againn.'' (p.65)

2. Mr. Watson is a joker. Most of what he's done so far in the book is crack jokes. On p. 3, Kenny says "...we knew Dad was going to try to make us forget about being cold by cutting up." On. p. 16, Mr. Watson can hardly stop laughing when Byron gets his lips stuck to the car because he was kissing the windshield. These examples both show that one way Kenny's Dad deals with bad situations is by laughing.

3. Mr.and Mrs, Watson would make great parents. They would make great parents because on (p.33)it says that she packed more food because her son had to share his food with kenny.
